A THANKFUL THANKSGIVING

This Thanksgiving was to be easy on me.  Ordered the turkey dinner from Publix and I was just making some other side dishes. The table was set and it looked so festive.  I finished making my cranberry sausage stuffing and the cornbread just came out of the oven.  I was so please that it was 1:45pm and now to shower  before putting in the turkey  and the sides to warm up for dinner at 5pm.

I came out of the shower  and walked to the sink.  The next thing I knew I was on the floor.  Naked as a J Bird.  My leg under me and my body in a 12 (pain scale).  Oh my God I thought how in the hell am I going to get up.  I laid back to get the towel I had.  All I kept saying there is NOTHING WRONG WITH ME!  I struggled and put the  towel under me and wiggled inch my inch into my bedroom.  When I got to the bed I thought I would try getting up but my left leg was a twelve. I had to get to the phone to call my daughter to come and open the door for I call 911.  It took me an hour to get to the phone.

When my daughter got to me she quickly put on a house dress to cover me before the ambulance came.  I called my “sister” friend too and she came over.  I told them don’t try to help me let the men do it.  I thought to myself that even thou I lost 168 pounds I still can’t get up.  I was embarrass, mortified and helpless.

Three young men came in and assessed what happened.  They got my desk chair that so they could push me to the stretcher.  The chair came and in a blink of an eye they got me up.  GOD I was so grateful and thankful for them.

They kidded that they hadn’t eaten.  I said to my daughter get them food before we go.  They laugh and said no we are taking you now.

When I got to the hospital.  They did x-rays of my shoulder and back, cat scan of my head and an ekg.  They banged my arm that was scraped and my toes.  I told my daughter to go for it would be a long time.  After me encouraging her that I was fine she left.  My sister friend and my friend who was coming to dinner came.

Finally they said I could go home.  I was so thankful and grateful that I didn’t brake anything.  I also was grateful and thankful that there are people who work on holidays and give up time with their family and friends to help others.  Plus having my family and friends to help me.  What a true gift I received.

The five lessons I learned from this is:
1. If you live alone have your cell phone with you at all times.
2. I need to start building upper body straight.
3. It reinforced to keep losing weight
4. To be thankful for life itself.
5. Stay positive and keep the negative thinking out of the mine.  By being positive and not thinking about the (pain).  I focus on how much better I am today then I was yesterday and how great I will feel tomorrow.
